Reflections as a Business Owner

Hello,

It’s been a while since I sat down to write, and although I had intentions of publishing in March it simply didn’t happen. Since my last blog, I have had time to reflect on everything business-related for Team B, where my blog journey is going, and how I can use this to help my audience with admin tips, etc. Whilst I want to keep blogging, I want it to be worthwhile for you to read and that’s why you haven’t seen me over the last few months.

With my reasons why out of the way, let’s get going!

Reflections

Whilst this is considered more of a January thing to reflect on the previous year, I used the remaining winter months to dwell on it. Of course, I have plans for this year and yes I am slowly implementing them, which I will be explaining in the next few blog posts. However, in a world that is so fast-paced, I wanted to look back on what my previous January looked like, and how nervous I was coming back to work with a baby in tow.

Wondering how parents managed work and children, the constant juggle, parent guilt, and of course the cost of living worry. It hasn’t been easy but I networked my socks off and it paid off, I did get some lovely new clients and by Spring I was back to being busy with the admin world.

It hasn’t been all sunshine and cheer, it has been a hard journey, and understanding the true juggle with parenthood and work is now a daily thing. The journey of watching my son develop into a boisterous toddler has been fun and I can’t wait to see what he does next, maybe except the tantrums!

In terms of my business, I have been working with some clients now for 3 years and I want to truly thank them for sticking with me. Learning from them and building my skills has allowed me to develop my core skills as a VA, and it’s something I want to keep doing with my newer clients.

But I want to ask you, what value can I bring you?

Time

Working, networking, and family life take up the majority of my time, yours may be different but do you find yourself asking how I can have more time?

One of the reasons I want to run my own business and pick who I work with is for the flexibility of my hours. I do work late a few nights of the week but I can have days where I can focus on my family and enjoy making memories. I’ve found over the past year I am more committed to keeping my days with my family free, and all my clients are aware that although I may not answer straight away the work will be done later.

Flexibility is a key element of my work and one area I like to clarify with potential clients on discovery calls. I will always try to do work in advance so we are ahead of ourselves, but for some requests, it may have to wait until I have a napping toddler.

Blocking out my time and days has helped me create a more regular work pattern that I can fit around my family. If you are struggling with the same, would you like assistance with blocking out your calendar?

Ask the audience

I wanted to change the dynamic of the blog and ask for your input, after all, your feedback and ideas will help me improve and offer better services. So I wanted to ask you to give me some feedback, what topics would you like me to include?

What value would you like me to offer?

Also if you can give me any suggestions for networking, I would love to know as I am on the hunt for a community to be involved in. Unfortunately, my last one changed hands and it didn’t quite feel right anymore.

If you would like to know more or book a free discovery call with me, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Catch you again soon!
